Wyoming quotas

Wyoming quotas - 03/19/24 01:49 PM

Proposed quotas are out for all species.
Some good cuts again to antelope and mule deer licenses and seasons shortened in Western Wyoming for mule deer with antler restrictions.

How has the winter been this year, so far? Think we will see a bump in Pronghorn numbers? I need to start buying points again for Pronghorn. I've wasted two years buying points in other states. Even with the way things are now WY is still the best speed goat state. IMO.

Thanks for posting. That is quite the bummer about tag cuts.

Some antelope areas are coming back but some still did not have good fawn recruitment.
I listened to a few Biologist's season proposals today on YouTube and some areas need more time for sure it sounds like.

Trying to narrow down an area for ourselves this year as our usual area took more cuts. Probably going for one we hunted in years past.

Dang I hate to see this. Hunting is getting tougher everywhere in the West!

A reminder that the app. deadline for Moose, Bighorn sheep, Mt goat and bison is April 30.

Think long and hard about applying for cow bison, that licenses is almost impossible to fill these days without a guided hunt with private access. Even then a crap shoot on even seeing a cow bison out of the Park.
Bulls can be had but that tag is expensive, however they are free range and can be scored.
Mt goats could be done DIY, pretty easily comparatively.
Moose are there for the taking in most areas.
Max PP holders can also get in a DIY sheep hunt if wanted, plenty of guided hunts out there too.

Putting in for moose myself, I have 7 PPs, longshot but why not.

I thought about those Bison tags and decided about 15 years ago that trying to get one out of the park was, indeed, a crap shoot. And, what I heard, I wasn't going to be the only one lined up 100 yards from the park boundary waiting for one to drive into the ditch. I do regret not applying for moose, sheep or goat. I'd have 16 moose points by now. I'm an idiot...

Bull bison is still doable but now expensive for NRs, that is the tag I want.

Today is the day for moose, sheep , bison and mt goat. Get your apps in before the deadline tonight.

I'm in for cow moose, I have 7 PPs and it's a long shot but hey. We would love some more moose meat, we've put 4 in the freezer so far and this will be our last in Wyoming when I draw.

Good luck folks !!
