No Hunting deer restrictions? What to do?

No Hunting deer restrictions? What to do? - 09/25/17 12:44 AM

I bought some acreage in BFE Uvalde a few years ago as weekend getaway to hunt, fish, bike ride and camp. But come to find out there's a No Hunting on the deed? An older gentleman that lives down the road informed about it and suggested I shouldn't hunt or he'll report me to the game warden and sheriff?

Anyone ever run into this problem? Any advice or suggestions? I've talked to other people that live in the area and they all hunt and shoot without any problems from that individual. I feel like I'm the outsider in that area and he doesn't want anyone to compete against....

And yes there's a deed restrictions on the property that wasn't disclosed by the realtor...

This has "ask a legal expert" written all over it.

Sorry, I truly hope this goes your way.

Game Wardens & Sheriffs don't enforce deed restrictions. The complainant(s) would have to sue you to make you comply.

What does your deed say?
It doesn’t matter what anyone says or tells you, or what is in their deed, is there specific wording of ’no hunting’ in your deed / title policy ?
Have you checked with the county clerk?
Does the restriction have an expiration date?

This is the 3rd time you’ve asked the same basic question.
Your previous 2 threads had some good input, you're going to have to actually do some homework, read your deed, then seek clarification from the county clerks office if you don't understand.

Did you not read the deed when you bought it?

How large a tract of land are we talking about here? Many residential subdivisions have a no hunting deed restriction others limit the type of weapon used.

As rustler said, the game warden or Sherif cannot enforce deed restrictions, there would have to be a civil suit brought against you

Unless the old man sold you the property he is going to waste a wheelbarrow full of money pursuing you if it is over ten acres and not a restricted subdivision. Just start target shooting and let them complain.

Sounds similar to a post from last year, same area, same problem with a neighbor threatening to turn him in, and the guy said he put up a feeder and someone tore it down. Yada, yada, yada.
Seems this question comes up every year, probably same area, same guy, or same old man down the road. roflmao

Wait til next year, there will be a 30point buck he can't shoot on some beach front property with no hunting deed restrictions.
