If so what do you use for a sheath? Some a made for hawk and axe.

I carry the same one my father carried back in the 40's. Keep it sharp and it's all you need to skin and butcher an elk. Wouldn't begin to guess how many critter's Pop butchered with this one.

I carry a machete. Never go hunting without one.

I keep one handy while in the field or on the river etc..

I carry a small gerber hatchet in my pack, just something that I have always done.

I do the same, small gerber hatchet. I also have a hawk, cary it during muzzleloader season.

We have a roofing hammer at the cabin, the "hatchet" end is kept pretty sharp.
