GANDER MOUNTAIN/CAMPING WORLD

Re: BIG ANNOUNCEMENT GANDER/CAMPING WORLD - 05/28/17 12:53 PM

I got the email this morning.

I have no experience with Camping World/Good Sam and never heard of Lemonis before this. It will be interesting to see what happens.

GM has a well deserved reputation for outrageous prices so there will be that to overcome in addition to everything else associated with rebuilding and relaunching the new version.

I wish them well and would welcome a legitimate competitor in the outdoor sports industry.

Still, I will be surprised if it emerges as any better than it was prior to the bankruptcy.

Only way I see them being successful is to change the name completely, be competitive with pricing and offer what outdoorsman want. Yep they are probably screwed still.

Lemonis Is an idiot, he just made the same mistake GM did.

I'd be shocked if The new brand had any hunting stuff. Lemonis Is pretty anti hunting.

Camping World in it's self is overpriced on much of their merchandise. There service dept. gets a lot of criticism. grin

I just about have abandoned box stores anymore. Maybe I'm picky but I have to go to nine different stores and still have to order off the internet to put a rifle together the way I want.

High pricing and very poor customer service......I don't see enough changing to save them unless they gut the management ranks from store manager up and start over with a customer-based approach. They will be dead within a year.

They have already started the process, they didn't buy any of the inventory or the warehouse operation, every single employee must reapply for their jobs.

Camping World is over priced and bad service, with a slap it together and get them out the door program. But retired folks will spend a ton of money to stay on the road. Wondering old folks in many cases have nowhere else to turn, and don't know any better because they are unaware of and scared the equipment in an RV.
The Hunting industry is a different ball game. Competitive pricing and customer service and some know-how are a big deal. If they play the Camping World game in the hunting/outdoor industry, they will lose.

Overpriced on everything for RV's.
It's just a matter of time before Amazon digests Camper World.

Academy, Amazon, Cabelas, Other internet sites. In that order. GM has never been on my list because they charge MSRP+14%. Idiotas.
