3rd season- Rifle Colorado Elk Hunt Success!

Got it done today on day 4. After 3 days of seeing nothing but turkeys, this morning I set up in a valley over looking a meadow. Out of no where 1000 yards away right at day light I spotted 3 bulls. I took off on foot leaving behind my binoculars and all kinds of other stuff and moved quickly and as quiet as possible. The biggest was a 4x4 and he was already half way up the mountain. I got on my belly rested my 7mm on a tree stump and took a 250 yard shot shooting up hill and nailed him quartering away. He ran 200 yards and dropped. My first ever elk hunt was a success. Addicted now I would say even though I walked 5000 miles it seems!

I spotted my cow while sitting on a ridge. She was alone which was odd, but I got a glimpse of brown then lost it. Reappeared at 280 yards and the 270 win with 150 partition dropped her right there. Funny thing, I went down and couldn't find her. We looked and looked. I had to go back up the ridge and direct my buddies to her. I was almost 300 yards off.
