Do I have to have hunters Ed card in me?

Just curious if you have to keep your green hunters Ed card on you with your license? I was telling a friend about having to order a new card every couple of years because they become worn out and unreadable and he pointed out that your hunters Ed # is on your license

You do not if it is on your license. I still carry mine either way, I don't feel like risking a GW not agreeing that I have taken the class for whatever reason.

I do. It was always my thinking that you're supposed to have it on you at all times.

I always carry mine too because I believe ti is the law (unless it has changed), but I don't understand why we have to if your # is on our license.

I don't either. TPWD website says you are required to carry proof, I'd like to think that proof would be the certification # on your license but like I said before, I carry it so there is no argument if checked.

I have never carried it nor know where it is and been checked numerous times. The number is on my license. Thats all you need as that is proof.

I keep my license and temporary card in my wallet at all times

I keep a picture of mine. Figure that way as long as I've got my phone it won't fade or crumble in my wallet.

You can go to any vet and get a chip implanted with the info on it------- no need to have a card with you after that. The game warden can scan the chip with his watch.

I was always under yet impression that if its on your license you do not need the actual card. But ymmv

The outdoor annual says "Proof of certification or deferral is required to be on your person while hunting"

I was checked for the 6th time by a game warden last night and you don't need a card if your HE # is on your license. Along with the 20 other people in the field. The proof is the HE # on the license.
