Navajo Lion Hunt with my Bride of 40 Years - 08/24/16 08:10 PM

CARNIVORE has been on the air for six seasons and I feel that this year's shows have been our best. In my opinion, this week's show will be the best show that we air this season. Hunting the greatest predator in North America with your wife and hounds that you raised and trained in a beautiful part of the world is very special. I hope that you will tune in if you have the chance.

I think the stampede episode was my favorite. You definitely have the best hunting show on TV.

Thanks SO MUCH Gents and yes, we will be airing the shows again in the last quarter.
Yesterday morning, while hunting my hounds, training a couple of young gyps and trying to keep the older dogs in fair shape for the lion season which opens on October i, I had something happen I have never seen before.
It was just barely breaking day and I was road hunting three older dogs with the young girls. Roading means I drive the ranch roads and the dogs hunt along side and in front of my in search of a trail made by a coon or cat. As I was driving, I see little Flo (maybe 35 pound) 12 month old female running toward my pickup with something big in her mouth. Kate the other youngster is trying to take it away from her. I just knew that they were wresting over something big, decaying and totally disgusting. As she ran up to my door, I realized that she had a half grown turkey in her mouth and it was still alive! I told her to drop it and she did, not sure if it survived but I hope that it did. This is why I preach that one of the very best places to try to call a bobcat is around a turkey roost. If a big pup can catch a turkey on the ground, can you imagine how easy it is for a bobcat to catch one????

I've mentioned that my 21 month old son really loves your show. He does not like to sit and watch much of Coyote Country though. I think your camera action and narrations really make your show a quality production.

BushFamilyNine, thanks and tell the youngster that I said, "Hello" and I appreciate him watching. Tell him to pay special attention because about the time I wear out, he may have to step up and take my place. I appreciate you complimenting the camera work as that is my youngest son, Steve and the narrations. A rancher buddy told me that he thought I was the "Rex Allen" of the hunting channels and that was possibly the nicest compliment that anyone ever gave me because Rex Allen was my childhood hero. Then I got to thinking, he and I may be the only two fellows who watch the show that know who Rex Allen was....

Yesterday morning, I was out hunting three of my older dogs and two gyps that recently turned a year of age. It was just breaking day so I could see the dogs swinging alongside and in front of my pickup as I roaded through the ranch. As I rounded a curve, I could see Flo, one of the gyps with something large in her mouth. My first thought is that she has something very dead and decaying and Kate the other gyp was trying to take it away. Flo ran up to the side of my pickup and in the dim light, I realized that she had a half grown turkey. I scolded her and she put it down. It was still alive and I hope that it survived the capture. In my well over 50 years of hunting, this was a first for me.
These are the girls that I hope to have ready for lion season this year. Hope they do as well on felines as they do on fowl.

I too think your narration is spot on. And I'm old enough to know Rex. I suspect I'm pretty near your age.
