Game Camera shield/cover

Anyone ever try putting a camera in a plastic protective box or mount some sort of weather shield over it to keep rain/moisture from getting to the eye of the camera?

My wildgame takes good pictures when it's dry, but it tends to fog up easily with dew or rain.

Would a protective box affect sensitivity of the motion senor?

Is it still new ? Since that is a outdoor camera that should not do that like that . I'd call the manufacture if it's still under warranty and see if they will exchange it . Those type cameras are usually mounted in a waterproof container and sealed against weather . You may need to adjust the height of the camera or location it's in . Are there any cracks or wore seals on it ?

It's either on it's 3rd or 4th year so no big deal since it's just a cheap camera. I set it up on my east texas place last Sunday and the sensor was picking up really well out to 75 feet. The last couple days of heavy rain will be a good test for it

See if you can get it a little higher in the air angled downward. The sun wont wear on it as bad that way. Or you can build a box to go around it out of whatever lumber you have laying around. Give about an inch or so overhang and use a hole saw bit to make about a 1 1/2" hole or if you need to because of your type of camera cut out the area you need with saw in the front. Build door on side of box to be able to slide camera out to change cards/ batteries. I recommend about 1/4" of play inside the box, it wont slide around to much but will allow for the swelling of wet wood

I give mine some protection, top and sides covered.

I put all of mine in boxes that keep direct sunlight and rain off. I can't prove it extends their life, but I'm convinced it does. One I have that lived in a box since the day I bought it is a 12 year old Moultrie D6. It's still kicking and takes great pictures. I had another D6 bought at the same time that didn't get the box treatment. It lasted two years.

Have always kept my cameras in a box but not as fancy as yours, just the top and sides. If I had to bet I'd say it does extend the life. All of my cams, except for one cheapy Simmons are under $100 Moultries and Primos. Still working just fine after 5 years.
