I found this interesting. almost twice as many have been caught as were two years back. At least one was 10 feet long.

You should be out there wearing your new cap helping them out.

Good for them. These snakes are an invasive specie that is devastating the everglades. They ought to put a bounty on them and make it a year round open season.

How exactly would you go about hunting them?

Do you go after them just like you would for Rattlers?

Only difference is you'll need a larger sack...

Looks like they don't want you eating them. Python steaks

I'm from La. and some time back, they tried getting some of the famous La chefs to come up with Nutria recipes to help cull the population. At the end of the day, it was still a cooked rat, didn't go over well.

A python steak would certainly look interesting on the grill.

To clarify, python hunting requires one large sack. Two if one don't get it done...

In typical fashion there was a restricted ares to hunt in. I read where they had put a chip in some males hoping to track them to females. Go figure! I think a bounty would go a long way towards helping gain control. confused2

Results are in and they got around 120 snakes on the roundup, the largest about 15 feet long. The winning team got 33 by themselves.
