Hunting Mule deer doe in NTX; Palo Duro Canyon SP

My draw hunt is on Saturday. I've gotten what information I could from some fellow THFers (thanks to y'all) and from the SP Policeman who's running the hunt.
I've got 3 things down: glass, fawn call, big ears.

Warm clothing and shooting sticks.

Warm clothes, snow possible fry night and sat morning. That is rugged country, be careful and have a good time. Good luck to you.

Not sure about the exact area you are going but I used to hunt around Quitique (sp?). Truly great country to hunt but wasn't an easy hunt. Good pair of glass is a must. Rugged country, so make sure someone knows where you are always.

Weather looks perfect. Don't fall!! If you spook one, don't worry, they will come right back if they were eating something they liked. They are not as smart as whitetail. We have spooked them and sat on the edge where they left and had them leap over us to go back to eat. But never hunted down in the canyon, this was on top in wheat. If you are walking to them, always be ready no matter what. Good luck!!

Good, broken-in boots/shoes! In that terrain you probably want something with a lug-type sole. Have fun!

Heard the results on this youth hunt were very good. Hoping for an update and some pics.

I heard from Chital.. he's covered up w/school but said he'd fill in details later.
He got a doe and pig fairly quickly day 1. Report from my TPWD buddy running the hunt was that the overall harvest was 3 each of doe, pig's and auodad. Sounds like the kid's did great

Tell him great job. That is some treturice country. Many people have died in that park from heat and dehydration.

Loaded with school and other work. Have another essay to start this weekend, so I will spam write it all up and post it, along with more pics. There'll probably be two threads, as when I write, I turn into Jim Corbett or Charles Dickens; lots of detail and may get slighly philosophical and/or boring.

The canyon is awesome. You could probably just hunt one of the campgrounds or the picnic area next to water crossing 1. We see mule doe just about every time we camp there.
