Primos or real??? - 11/13/15 07:41 PM

I have never rattled before and when walking around the archery shop I saw a set of artificial antlers for rattling. They are a plastic material and I didn't feel like it would be the same as rattling with real antlers. What say all of you? Get artificial or wait until I get a set of real?

Artificial work fine. Just be aware they only work pre-rut and during the rut.

Mine are real but I have in the store hit many artificial ones together and they all sound about the same to me.

I prefer real. I keep at set at each stand location. Rattled in a 3.5 yr old 8pt sunday evening. Wife shot him 50 yards out. He was 20 yards from my decoy looking for a fight. I rattled in a 6.5 yr old 9pt yesterday evening. I killed him 50 yards out 10 yards from my decoy.

I have rattled them in with a plastic "rattle box", once with those bag rattles and several times with a real set. I think if it is the right time/place and close sound, they will respond. I have read, that a guy used 2 arrow shafts one time in a pinch and it worked. Go figure.
