Centex Rifle and Pistol Club on FM 2490 also known as Worthem Bend Road.
It's about 20 minutes from the Whitney Dam.

Chandler's is on HWY 1637 north out of China Spring and south off Hwy 56 east out of Valley Mills - it is a public range, I think they charge $15/gun/person. I'm not sure if they have a 200yd range, because they were forced to do some reconfiguration due to a disgruntled neighbor!

Centex is a private gun club.

Good to know. That means Centex has the only 200 yd range in the area and they are a private club! Webers, on I-35 north of Temple, only has 100 yard range, too.

May be a little bit of a drive, but there's one on the East, NE side of Gatesville out to 600 yards.

Steve you got a name, address or other info on where this might be? Any gunshops, feed store, Tractor Supply type places around that could help?
Sounds very interesting so far.

Chandlers will work for doing load ladders etc, but sure would help to stretch a rifle out couple times a year. It's about 55 - 60 miles to Top Gun from up here on the Peninsula north of Pottsboro....and about the same to Fossil Point 'tween Gainesville and Decatur.

You're always welcome at my place, Ron. SH 11 from Sherman to within 2 1/2 miles of my driveway.

More chance than not that you'll have the range to yourself. Stretch out as far as you like, paper or steel.

If you really wanna stretch.....there is a 1000 yard tactical training range near Prairie Hill on Hwy 84 east of Waco! I'll have to dig thru my notebook, but the guy that runs it is based out of Mexia. It is a professional tactical training setup!

Thank you for that Jason, I appreciate the thought.

John ...not gonna need all 600 yards on that place at Gatesville until I scrape all the rust off everything, me included. 3-mebbe 400 yards is gonna be good enough until I can make a regular weekly thing out of a trip to the range for a couple months after we get moved, whenever that is.

Thought I had the house sold to an Investor, that had promised me a check on the spot whenever I wanted it for the last 5-6 years...but theres sand in the gears all of a sudden when I told him last Sunday we were ready and lets do the deal on Nov 1st. All hat and no cattle I guess. Old saying of my granpop comes to mind..."Man Plans...and God Just Laughs".

We'll see what happens after I get the Listing started at a fire sale price for Lake Property with a private boathouse 5 minutes away and waterview from the house. This place was my "weekender fish camp" originally. Careful what you wish for...

According to the WWW, the name is Hicksville. 254-679-1362
I went out a couple times last year. Not too many folks out when we visited. I believe there's some qualification before they turn you loose out to 600.

Steve...qualifying to use the long targets is to be expected most places...

Thx for the info.
