Game Cameras With Pics Emailed?

Game Cameras With Pics Emailed? - 06/09/15 09:02 PM

Gentlemen,

While I am no stranger to game cams, I have on going issues with a land tenant doing things he shouldn't as well as multiple people accessing the property without permission.

I have seen advertisements for game cams that have a built in smart phone or other capability of emailing pictures and I think its time to invest.

If you have experience with these types of cameras and can help steer me in the right direction to the models that have worked best for you I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

I have an older model of these, I will be upgrading to the new model... right after my new thermal scope is paid off...

I have just started looking into this as an option.

A few things I have found out (and I am sure someone much more knowledgeable on the topic will chime in if I am off).

1. be sure you have good to decent cell phone service at the location you intend to put the camera.
2. if you have an old phone (with old SIM card, at least how I understand AT&T), merely take the phone in to the store to have another line added to your existing service plan (again, AT&T, $10-20/month for unlimited text) ... once the phone is activated, remove the SIM card from phone and put in your camera (and I am guessing there is some type of set up for the camera to know where to text or email pictures???).

as stated, just getting started on researching.

You need 3G at the lease.

one issue is that the pics are emailed to you in individual emails. So if you have a lot of pics you have to go through each email one at a time

Can the camera be set-up to send multiple pictures in one email? That'd be a lot of pictures every 5 minutes bang

I have the covert game cam. cell signal is a must, the plans are 10 or 20 dollars a month. $10 gets you 1000 texts a month $20 gets you unlimited texts a month. I dont use the email I have the pics texted to my phone. The camera can text up to 4 phones at one time. what I like about my camera is the ability to control the camera from my phone.telling it to take a pic, turning it off and on.

I dont think so - again text or email you are getting loads of pictures that you have a major issue looking at - I have studied this for several years to see if I can save time and money but I dont thing it is realistic if you are looking at multiple pics

I've heard about AT&T plans. Do you have to use AT&T? And, can you have pics Emailed to home PC?

I buddy of mine has several covert cameras and they are awesome. Set a 3 or 5 minute delay and you won't have to go through too many pics. And we've all got bigger problems than having to look through too many game camera pics.

I run an HCO Scoutguard using AT&T. I just added a line to our existing plan for $10 a month. We already had unlimited text, so it works well. I can select to have it sent to a phone number or email address. They work great as long as you have good cell service. I would, however, add them to your home owners insurance. I have had 2 stolen from my place, and they ain't cheap. Both were taken from security boxes. The issue is the antennas are not protected by the security box and both times, they came in from the side and removed the antenna before prying the box off of the tree.
Thanks!!
Matt

The Covert uses a lot of battery. Plan on adding an external battery pack and a solar charger.

I have had the Bushnell Wireless for about a year now and have been happy with it. $10 a month, you just pay Bushnell, no contract, turn it on or off at anytime. They have a website you can log into to manage the pictures if you don't want to get them emailed or texted. Also have an App. Only works with AT&T though.

It's been running on one set of lithium AA batteries for about a year now.

I've got 5 coverts and have had at least 2 in the field for 3 years. Good quality at a reasonable price....just paid $265 + free shipping when one of mine decided to take pictures of fish. You can set it up for up to 4 emails and or phones. Check your ATT or Tmobile reception...should have at least 1 bar preferably 2. You can buy a extender antenna for $50. I bought the cams so I didn't have to run to the ranch to check cards OR change batteries so yes a solar powered battery charger is also available and recommended for $50. Transition dusk pics aren't the best but still very acceptable. I've had nothing but praise for their customer service. up for the covert black ops

Man this sounds perfect for someone like me 6 hours from the ranch. And oddly enough I'm in one of the few spots that gets decent cell signal

I have the Bushnell wireless trail camera as well. As long as you have service where the camera is set up it works great. Cost is $9.00 a month thru Bushnell for 1000 pics per month. They have a deal with Att. Battery life is excellent. I have had the camera since December and am really happy with it and may buy another one soon.
