Walmart guns

Walmart guns - 10/05/10 09:41 PM

Could you guys give me a list of the Walmarts in the DFW area that sale guns. I have a $200 gift certificate and it is time to add a caliber. I have called a few stores and they seem clueless. I am aware of a few which I will list.

Mesquite Walmart store on 80 & Beltline
Plano Walmart on Central & Spring Creek
Terrell Tx Walmart
Rockwall Walmart I-30

If you guys know of any others please post the store location.

Regards,
Reggie

MOST Walmarts in the DFW area dropped gun sales.

You can drive out to Decatur Texas and they have guns (About a hour west of DFW).

I THINK Denton Walmart sells guns also.

fyi they have a catalog you can order from, very reasonable prices, and good variety

Re: Walmart guns - 10/05/10 09:57 PM

The Mckinney store @ 380 and Redbud still had a gun counter about 2 months ago. What raiderJ said about the catalog, huge selection on special order guns @ good prices.

Re: Walmart guns - 10/05/10 10:12 PM

The guy at the Terrell store is the only one out of the stores I listed that has any kind of clue on how to order a gun from the catalog. He knew his stuff. I would not trust the others I meet to order anything for me.

Last time I was there the one in Mansfield had quite a few (more than most w-m's)...
Waxahatchie had the normal W-M stock

Walmart still sells guns?

Re: Walmart guns - 10/06/10 03:53 AM

I bet Sam Walton is spinning in his grave over this. I've noticed they have decreased the number of hunting and fishing magazines they sell in Weatherford. I can't remember if they have gun sales after they revamped the store. They did this last summer. But I would trade the gift card and look elswhere as well unless you just want a decent pump shotgun.

Re: Walmart guns - 10/06/10 03:55 AM

I bought my cheap old Savage bolt action .270 there years ago. Came with the rifle, a 3x9 Bushnell scope and a hard case for $250. I still hunt with it and it made a 250 yard shot 2 seasons ago that scored my biggest buck ever. I got no complaints at all. They do still sell rifles (well not Walmarts in upiddy places like Park and the tollroad in Plano) but for the ones that still do sell them, I think their selection of rifles has gone WAY down these days.

They are about to have 2 and a Sam's Club. 1 on loop 288 and the new 1 and Sam's Club will be on 380 just east of I-35. I do not know if they will carry guns. I would be shocked if they do.

I'm looking for a cheap .223 Something like a Weatherby Vanguard or Savage would fit the bill. It will be a budget gun and I am cool with it having a synthetic stock. I care more about a gun shooting straight than I am about it looking good.
I have found some good deals on clearance guns at Walmart and thought I would give them another try.

How do you get a Wal Mart catalog? I can't find it on their website.

Re: Walmart guns - 10/06/10 01:28 PM

Oh, and the Wal Mart here in Mansfield does have a decent selection of guns. But its hard to find anyone who knows anything about them (which is okay, really).

Had a lady at Wal Mart last year refuse to sell me a hunting license...said hunting was cruel. The manager sold me one...

Re: Walmart guns - 10/13/10 03:25 PM

I would take Sig up on his offer, but if you are still intending to go with wally world, then the kid that sold me my HL at the Denton store was about the most hunting/shooting savvy Walmart employ I have ever met. Dark hair and goatee with no mustache, if I remember correctly. He was taking care of my license while trying to find a gun for another customer with a clueless individual at another store on the phone. He was working the desk solo and listening to him deal with people trying to find ammo and ask questions about firearms, he definitely knew what he was talking about. He also got my HL correct on the first pass, which I don't think anyone at wally world has ever done before.

The two Wal-Marts that I go to on the far north side of San Antonio sell guns. At the Wal-Mart on 1604 & Naco a guy named Bill works there. He is really good. Knows his stuff and works mainly during days. The Wal-Mart at 1604 & 281 also sells guns. I have not talked to anyone there. But they did have a few boxes of .380 ammo I bought.

their prices are as good as anybody,s. I've bought several guns from them, including an A-Bolt, always special order, never off the shelf. I shopped around and they beat everyone.

Yes, still did last time I was there. Will Walmart completely abandons gun sales like Sears, JC Penney, & Montgomery Ward (I know deceased)? Wife hates the Walmart, never trades there, guns and gear go away I won't go there myself.
