I don’t get it

Why do men pull one pant leg over the boot and leave the other stacked on top of the shaft of the boot? Is that the redneck equivalent of sagging?

It makes you you look lazy

Re: I don’t get it - 03/31/24 08:10 PM

Some people just like to look dumb.

When we would see guys ( mostly kids would do that ) tucking their jeans into one or both boots, we would walk up and say “ you must own 10,000 acres”

Even rural genres have their douchers. The number of adult men making tik-tok reels is a prime example

So it won’t get caught in their bicycle chain!

I keep my pants inside my boots because of mud. Some folks work for a living.

you’re not supposed to get it.

Re: I don’t get it - 03/31/24 09:39 PM

I tuck both in when it’s muddy. To do one and not the other is just the equivalent to wearing a cap sideways. It serves no purpose other than to raise eyebrows.

Only when muddy. Leather cleans easier than denim.

Don't worry BigPig, LL Cool J did it back in the day but I guess he didn't get that he was supposed to wear boots. Or maybe high tops were the urban equivalent to boots.

This I get. But why take the time to only tuck one in and not the other? Are they looking for a buddy? Does it matter which side (right vs left)? Does that signal if they’re a pitcher or receiver?

Re: I don’t get it - 03/31/24 10:40 PM

It was very popular back in the day. The real Cowboys would stuff the inside of their jeans in their boot to clear the saddle and tack/spurs. SO, naturally all the wanna be's at the cowboy bars started doing it.

Now, the brothers pull one pant leg up as shown above to show solidarity. The stemmed from bike messengers back in the day so, as P102 stated the cuffs wouldn't get caught in the chain. But today its anything to be different (divisive). I watch Gutfeld and the big black guy called Tyrus always rolls his right pant leg up. I used to like him.

Folks around here tuck their pants in their boots if they’re working cows in brushy areas. There’s no reason to tuck only one in that I can think of. I think it’s just a look. Kinda like wearing a cowboy hat but not having a horse.

Right. They tuck them in. Both of them. These idiots walk around with no be sitting on top of the boot shaft and the other pulled over the boot.

Rules of the MSCA (Madisonville Sidewalk Cattlemen Association)

To my mind the thing that most clearly sets the MSCA apart from any other organization in the world is its “boot wearing regulations,” which state that owners of two head of cattle are entitled to wear cowboy boots; owners of 3 head may wear boots with one pants leg stuffed into the top of the boot; owners of 4 head may stuff both pants legs into the boots; and owners of 6 head of cattle may wear cowboy boots with both pants legs stuffed in AND spurs.

The Madisonville Sidewalk Cattlemen’s Association is not all fun and games. Each year’s proceeds go into a scholarship fund to help send deserving Madison County students to University.

That’s why I only wear shorts when wearing boots, I don’t want to be judged for not having style.

Re: I don’t get it - 04/01/24 02:12 AM

My friend's grandpa wrote a book called the "Last best Place", about growing up in Montana. I had him sign me a copy. Anyways, back when jeans were ordered out of a catalog they ordered them full length uncut, maybe 36 or 38 inseam and then would roll them up and stuff the works inside their boots to keep the snow out when working cattle, going to town etc.. Nothing to do with showing off the fancy uppers on your boots or tucking your shirt in above the belt buckle kinda thing.

Not counting the utility use of tucking the pants in the boot tops when wet, muddy, snakes and Chigers'. I was always told it was for signaling buying or selling, or both. confused2

Know a person that wears his jeans pant legs stacked on top of his worn out boots, he is mainly a city slicker. scratch

How is leather easier to clean than denim? Just put the damn jeans in the washing machine. Hose them off outside first if needed. And no, cuffs on men look really ghey. A co-worker in his 40's wears 5" cuffs and Vans ... and he has a handlebar mustache. Yes, everyone is on high alert.

I meant as far as staining goes.
I've got several pairs of wranglers that have mud stains around the bottoms. Which I don't mind.
It's just easier to scrape the mud off the leather and be done with it and not have to put another pair of pants on because they're in the washer. confused2
Just a preference.

Working in the cattle yard, tuck inside of pant leg in boots.
Also slit inside of pant leg a bit, boot slides off easier.
Ever get thrown from horse, & boot get hung up in dtirrip.

If you wear Wranglers or cowboy cut/boot cut jeans instead of skinny jeans wouldn't have to slit them.

It’s not the only slit he has so he’s ok with it.

Re: I don’t get it - 04/01/24 02:58 PM

Maybe the guy bought his pants to fit regular shoe wearing and then wore them with boots. Buy your pants a little long for boot wear, that way when you sit down, your pants won't ride up over your boots...on the other hand, I once heard an old cowboy say, "If we weren't all different, we'd be just alike."
