Chow-Chow

Aka green tomato relish. I always can a few pints when my garden is almost done.

I start with green tomatoes, onions, jalapeņos, and bell peppers. Here you go.



Chop, chop, add salt and sugar, then cover with vinegar, bring to a boil. Done deal. I dip it out with a slotted spoon into pint jars.



You can see that the jars have not yet sealed, but all do. I just heard the first one click.

We canned a lot of chow-chow back when my mother was alive. She loved it, but for us a jar will last a long time.

I love me some chow-chow,but never made it from scratch like that.
