Onions

Onions - 05/23/18 03:06 PM

I started a thread several years ago about picky eaters. There were a couple of guys who swore that they would pick onions out of any dish. One hesitated a little when I asked about fried onion rings. I'll add them almost anywhere. Google is loaded with the goodness of onions. Here's one of several examples.

"The vegetables are an excellent source of vitamins C and B6, folate, iron, and potassium. Onions are also rich in manganese that offers protection against cold and flu. ... Onions also contain quercetin, another antioxidant that fights inflammation.Mar 27, 2018"

How about you? Would I be welcome if I showed up at your door with this haul?

How about homegrown tomatoes?

I sometimes take a onion and slice it end ways half way turn 90 degrees and slice, flip over at 45 degrees to slices cut half way then 90 degrees. Put crushed beef bullion on both ends and stuff butter in slits cover with foil and put on the grill for 30 minutes. Purtty good eatin........

Grew up picking onion out of anything like enchiladas. Now I use them all the time. I still have some friends who hate them in food.

Hate isn't a strong enough word. When I was a kid I absolutely despised them. It was probably a texture thing over taste. Now I can't hardly eat enough of them. Raw, cooked, fried-it's all good.

We use to have a guy on the lease that would take an onion and cheddar cheese and head for the pasture on foot. We would not see him for hours.
