Venison Carne Guisada ........

Venison Carne Guisada ........ - 08/03/15 01:52 AM

All the talk this morning about spikes made me hungry. Pulled a back strap out of the freezer and making another batch of carne guisada, real easy to do.

Chop and saute one large yellow onion in the dutch oven with 1/4 stick of Falfurrias Sweet Cream Butter.

Get the onions cooked down nice & brown then remove. Turn the heat up and add a little Canola oil. Season the cubed up venison with a little salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Fiesta brand fajita seasoning. Brown the meat, reduce heat and add the onions back.

Add a can of Rotel w/juices and enough water to cover the meat, and just a little bit more. Cover and let simmer on low for a couple of hours.

About to add the Fiesta brand Carne Guisada seasoning to thicken and flavor at the end, and a little bit of Cumin. Will post again in a bit. food

Mmm looks tasty!

You don't get the same gravy, but if you do it in a pressure cooker you can get the same tenderness(or more so) in 1/2 hour to 45 min.

Now im hungry and my pb&j aint looking that great bang

Next time you make it, try some half/half or little thicker cream, thickens the gravy
a bit more, good flavor. Also to our chicken fry straps or venison steaks!

Looks pretty gud there!

keep it going.......

I do a green chile brisket tacos/guisada recipe in the crock pot with my leftover brisket. Great on rice or strained in a flour tortilla, cheese and cilantro. Almost like a stew. Great stuff.
