BBQ SAUCE - 07/27/15 01:31 AM

Does anyone know of a good Bbq sauce without sugar flavor. Been using Stubbs regular; but looking for something without sweetness.

Even the hottest sauces I've had have always had at least a touch of sweetness to them. Personally really enjoy Rudy's original sauce. Its got a kick to it and not to sweet.

I dont like thick and sweet sauces, here is what I make at home

start out with equal parts of chicken broth, apple cider vinegar and ketchup. let it simmer for about 15 minutes on the stove and taste, at that point you can adjust the ingredients, I normally add about 25% more broth and vinegar. Also at this point go ahead and add some salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to taste. Cant tell you the amounts, never measured, just add and taste...and repeat

this is pretty much based on the sauce at coppers BBQ in Llano.

coppers also sales their sauce bottled up and ready if you dont want to fool with making a sauce

Huntmaster, Sucklebusters is a home brewed sauce that Dan sells. He has an ad in the news and announcements section here. Contact him and see if he has any without sugar. He makes a lot of good ones.

Red Mud BBQ sauce is not sweet ... http://www.redmudbbq.com/ ... kinda has a bit of a warm bite to it too.

United, HEB, Wal-Mart all carry it. You can order it online also. I personally like the original best but the OP asked for a non sweet one.

Good Stuff right there. I use it and like it along with his rubs. I also like Stubbs Original for a sauce if I am out of Sucklebusters. http://www.sucklebusters.com/
