Who uses one?

My mom and dad gave me one as part of a birthday present this year. Never had one before so figured I would give it a try.

Made what I call pot roast the first night out of deer meat. Took two top rounds from a buck this year and chunked them into 1 inch cubes seasoned with salt pepper and garlic powder and a large diced onion. seared meat first then put in pressure cooker for 20 min opened added a little flower to make a gravy and cooked for another 20 min.

It was awesome falling apart tender great flavor and only took about 50 minutes total. I have cooked the same dish just in a cast iron pan but had to simmer it for 3 hours to get the same level of fall apart tender.

Last night cooked a 3.5 lb chuck roast and potatoes. Seasoned similar to the deer seared it put in a whole diced onion with a cup of water and 1/4 cup white vinegar and cooked for 20 min then added the potatoes and cooked another 20 min. The roast was partially frozen when I started and I cut it with a spoon when it was done.

Im gonna love this thing!

Use one frequently. Great for chicken and dumplings.

yep, my wife uses one pretty frequently. Can make pinto beans in a very short period of time when unsuspecting guests show up. She uses for other things similar to the roasts and chicken items above.

I've personally never used one in my life, but have been thinking about it. How did the gravy turn out in the pressure cooker?

Gravy came out great. Im a little disappointed I never used one before. I will probably make carne guisada in it next week, sure gonna cut down on the time frame. I typically make it with deer meat which takes a bit longer to get tender than say beef. The pressure cooker so far has reduced cooking time by 1/3 for most stuff ive tried like that. We will see how it goes.

Only disappointment so far is it doesn't have any kind of crust or bark so to say on like the roast, but all the flavor and tenderness is there.

Remember my grandmother using one back in the day, mostly for leftovers that had kinda dried out and such, reconstituted greatness. She also made some kind of Swiss steak that was wonderful. Sure miss that grand old woman.

My grandmother uses one some, but she told me that my great great grandmother hardly ever cooked anything without one.

I haven't used one in years, but sure grew up using one. We canned everything from a big garden using a pressure cooker. Gramma made chicken and dumplings in hers.

Dredge the meat in salted and peppered flower before browning it well then add to the cooker. It'll have that crust you want and make its' own gravy.

My wife uses one frequently. Everything that comes out of it is wonderful. Try cooking some thick-cut pork chops in it, along with rice.
