Best 8 Chicken Fried Steaks in Texas

I saw this article on the creepbook, it's nice to actually see different places on there than the usual. I can honestly say I have been going to Pappy's since 1989 and I somehow have never gotten the CFS there. But to this day the best one I have ever had is at Sissy's just outside of Cameron.

Finally Mary's didn't make the list. Gotta go with Horseshoe Hill. It's a great CFS.

Those look amazing. I was actually impressed with the CFS at Matt's Ranchero.

The last time I ate at Mary's the breading fell away from the meat.

Sometime ago I had a great cfs outside of Cameron.... Maybe it was Sissy's,

I have had two of the eight, Skeets and The Gristmill, both of which were better than Mary's by a long shot.

Even though I have eaten at GristMill twice, never tried the CFS, will next time. These two look the best to me.

Gristmill is incredible, though.

Y'all give Bean & Burger a try in Mabank, TX if you are ever in the area. One of the best I've had.

I have had theirs a few times and was not impressed.

I have had the CFS at the first 2 places listed and they were good, but not sure if I would put either in my top 3 in Texas. The Gristmill CFS would probably make my top 5, but not the one at Moonshine.

I have had Gristmill many times over the years and it is a really great one. However, if anyone is ever down in Concan, Tx Neal's Lodge has the best one I've ever had by a wide margin.

what killed Mary's is what is killing all Independent restaurants. GREED. Her food salesman from Ben E. Keith Foodservice in Ft Worth talked her into using a cheaper cut of meat. when cooking meat draws up, your first few fork cuts don't even hit meat, like Bill mentioned above.

All restaurants are convinced cheap prices fix everything, cheap prices mean cheap products. They suk, business goes to poop, then they close.

George's in Waco makes a pretty good steak.

I'm a bluebonnet fan!!! Used to live on Lake Travis and it was closer than Cedar Park for us so we got hooked. Roast beef is crazy good as well. And the pie. Gotta save room for that.

I would think Threadgill's would be here as well. Eight is a short list though.

Went to Horseshoe Hill for CFS and eggs on the last Saturday morning of the Stock Show at 11:30. Website says breakfast served until 2pm but unfortunately that is not the case. Hostess told us they stop at 11, very disappointed but will try again soon.

Last week ate at Normas off the N. Dallas Tollway. It was pretty good don't go out of your way for it. The overall meal was very good

From what I hear Norma's is typically on point.
