There is a steak place in the middle of town but I haven't been there. Always has vehicles in front.

The auction barn in Olden used to serve a good steak. I ate there on the way to Abilene for years.

I'm going to try the Olden place this weekend. I did eat breakfast a second time at the Red Star Cafe and it was good again. $9.

Well, I tried to go to Maes on Saturday night. I got there at 4:00pm and the sign on the door says that they close at 2:00pm on Saturdays. So, maybe next week.

I ate supper at the red star. I got chicken fried steak, my wife chicken strips. Mine was bad, hers was good.

That little gas station in Carbon turns out some good grub.
Their burgers are great and on Friday nights they serve all you can eat catfish.
They also serve a good breakfast.

Cook's Catfish Barn on Hwy 36 isn't too far out of the way for you. I had a decent steak there, but they are cash or check only.

My wife loves catfish, so I'll be looking that place up.

You might tryu Hardin's BBQ in Gorman....1lb of chopped beef is $14. Take some buns and you can eat all weekend on $20. Sausage is good too.

Gorman only 10 miles or so from us, so I will give it a try. Thanks for the information.

Plus 2 on Mae's. And if you want a good steak to cook on the grill Kevin will cut what ever you want at the meat counter inside Mae's
If you want them to cook it I think they do that also

I went there Saturday at 4:00, but sign on the door said that they close at 2:00 on Saturdays, so I will have to try them next time I am down there on a Friday. That won't be until November 6, the day before deer season starts, but I'm going to put Mae's #1 on my list to try.

I ate lunch Saturday at the B-B-Q place at the cattle auction barn about 1 mile east of Eastland on Hwy 20. My wife had a sliced and I had a chopped sandwich plus chips, small salad, peach cobbler for a total $20. It is a small place but the food was good and the service very good and friendly. I will try there again for dinner. There prices seem in reason on the steaks for dinner.

The cattle auction place between Ranger & eastland. I've eaten there twice in the last two weeks and was good and reasonably priced both times. I asked at the hotel I was staying out where was the best steak place to eat. This is where they sent me. Now, here was your choices of steak: Ribeye 8oz, Ribeye 10 oz, Ribeye 12oz, ribeye 16oz. That was all the steaks that they had on the menu. I got the 8 oz not knowing how good it could be for %12.99. Came with salad and baked potato. It was worth the $12.99. If it had been $20.99, it would not have been worth it, however, I am going back next week to get another.

The gas station in Carbon is called "The Store". We had lunch there today, pretty good. A buddy who hunts this area keeps telling me about a place, I think in DeLeon, that has some kind of Friday night all you can eat steak. He says it is good.

Decent place to eat here. Wouldn't drive a half mile out of my way to eat at Mary's in Strawn. Dry meat, greasy/nasty fries. Once was enough.

Shannon's Burger Barn just moved from Putnam to Cisco (old hotel at exit 332). Burgers are really good and all you can eat catfish on Friday nights is worth the drive as well. Get there early.....it's a popular place.
