Have all the chains. For local flavor Bryans at 50th & I27 west side is a not fancy ole time steak house you can't leave hungry from. Been there 40 years I think. Pan Cake House on Q around 6th street is another old time place for breakfast. River Smiths is by the Pan Cake house and has good catfish and chicken and is another local restaurant. There are several good Mexican restaurants around non chain which are not much to look at but have good food. So what do you like to eat?
allsups burrito and chimi's...
Capitol pizza or One Guy from Italy for pizza
Orlando's for Italian, possibly Italian Garden
Nora's, Montelongos, Picantes or a host of others for Mexican
Double Nickel, Las Brisas, 50yd Line or Cagles for steaks
Manna Bread and Wine is a great eatery
Eddies BBQ but they're only open for lunch
One Guy From Italy pizza is awesome

I make my parents go to Bryans everytime I come home to visit...it's not the best steak in Lubbock by far - but it's reasonable priced and like steak houses you went in to as a child...hell, it IS the steakhouse I went into as a child!

Chimi's
Orlando's has great pizza and really cold beer
Triple J was always my favorite place to go but I heard it's changed in the last year or two.
