Dog Whining in Blind Help please

Does anyone have any recommendations on what can be done to get a lab to stop whining in the duck blind. She is a little over a year old now so I am not sure if it is just a young dog thing and she is still learning to be patient or is it a problem that needs to be worked on. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Muffin was barking in the dog box. I got a cheap bark collier. She only had to wear it once.

Teach her what hush means. Every time she whines, say hush and twist her ear or shock her. She’ll catch on.

Your dog is excited. Drive is great. I look at it just like teaching your dog to sit-stay. Your dog loves you and wants to follow you wherever you go, but you use a command to give direction. You might consider doing the same with the whining, such as 'quiet.' Grab her snout and say no, quiet. Repetition at home and in the duck blind. Also time training with her just sitting next to you for extended periods of time. If she only has to sit with you for a minute at a time between retrieves at home, she won't be prepared for all the distractions sitting for an hour at a time on a slow day. Calling, standing up, talking, shooting (if you have an area for that) and any other usual distractions without her getting to actually do anything could help.

You can also try a few things to bring excitement down in the blind like a few retrieves. Although with mine, getting to retrieve usually just makes it worse.

Assuming the whining is loud enough to cause a problem then I will add a little more color on Exbelicus's reply above... Gently squeeze her muzzle in your hand, applying pressure so the top and bottom come together until the pressure causes her some discomfort and say "quiet" (quietly), then release pressure. If she starts whining again, repeat. Be consistent.

My pup is very vocal. In the house and kennel, she has to wear a bark collar. She is just getting to a point where she will sit in her kennel and not bark, with a "quite" command. She is 17 months old. I was really worried when duck season started she would be a whiner in the blind and she was at first, but I would give her a "quite" with a nic and that worked. I passed on a lot of ducks this season, ringers and spoonies mainly, and they would land in the spread, she would go crazy, I give her a "quite" and a nic, that was the best thing for her, to make her sit and be quite and watch ducks swim in the spread.

Just yesterday, I was driving by a local city pond loaded with blue bills, I got out to check them out, Tara was going crazy, that is something we are going to do this off season, check out some local ponds, and I'm going to make her sit, be quite, and watch the ducks.
