Looks like arthritis.

One of my Pointers is nine and she looks to be developing an issue with her right leg.
She sustained an injury in it years ago. The vet at the time told me should might be arthritic in that joint later in life.

Friday we headed out to the Panhandle to hunt and she was limping. I medicated her a couple of times and it seemed to help. I was hoping once we were back home and she rested for a while things would improve but she's still limping.

I have no experience with this so I need some guidance.
Suggestions?

I'd have the vet look at to make sure it's not a new injury.

He may suggest some type of medication for long term pain management.

Make sure there is something for the pup to lay on through out the day. Concrete or hard dirt can make it a lot worse. Glucosimine *sp works well but takes a few weeks to really get to working.

Many years ago when I was running hounds on a night hunt, one of my walkers had run far up a leaning tree and fell off. She hurt one of her her legs in the fall. She later developed a limp in that leg from joint pain. Vet gave her a cortisone shot in the effected joint that pretty much fixed the problem for the remaining hunting years of her life. Definitely worth a trip to the vet to discuss it. And as Triple7 suggests. At 9 years old with some issues starting, it's probably time to start that dog on a Glucosamine regimen.

See your vet. Arthritis is very good possibility. A soft bed can definitely help. She may also need an NSAID like carprofen for pain. Joint supplements such as glucosamine can also help slow progression.

There are also more aggressive measures like adequan and legend injections that be a big help.

Started her on glucosamine last week. Seeing the vet tomorrow.

Doc said could be a current injury and put her on some meds for a couple of weeks.
He said "I could do xrays and then tell you that I want to put her on meds for a couple of weeks so we'll just skip the xrays and put her on meds."

Sounds right.

He thinks she will heal up from this one soon.
Hope he's right.

Fingers crossed. This girl is all that.
Don't want any injury to take her out. She couldn't stand it either.
