Smart dog.

Maybe smarter than we are, since we plan on quail hunting in the Panhandle on Saturday...it might be hard to get the dogs out of the crates. loco

Re: Brrrr. - 01/05/17 03:25 PM

I hunted yesterday into a 25 mph wind. I should have stayed at home.

13 degrees here at the moment with a -4 windchill! We're not hunting today...

46 degrees and sunny with a 10-15 mph breeze in Reagan county. Getting ready to head out for the afternoon hunt. Forecast for tomorrow morning looking frigid, 20 degrees with 20 mph wind. I may not hunt, just drive home

How did you do? Last cold front I went out and hardley found anything. Lease manager said they must have been holding tight in the brush because of the wind.

Re: Brrrr. - 01/05/17 08:29 PM

The birds are holding tight for the most part. I've hunted open and brush. 4 coveys yesterday afternoon, 5 this morning. 1 covey flushed wild 200 yards out up wind from me. No dogs on the ground. I would think they'll be feeding this evening before the big front

I was not going to be the one to back out, but I thought it was way too cold. One of my buddies through in the towel first banana2 .
Now i get to stoke up the fire and pour some whiskey tonight.

Oh come on, sun is out here today feels almost balmy outside. Thermometer says 25 degrees and there's about 4 inches of snow on the ground. Man I wish pheasant season was still open....

Where's your lease at my dog and I could go check it out for you? grin

I'm giving it a try tomorrow morning. The wind will be down.

Got mine tuning up for his first duck hunt tomorrow. Tracked a deer last weekend my daughter shot, then pointed quail the following morning. We will see how he does with the retrieving part tomorrow if the roads aren't iced over.

Very nice looking dog LReichardt! I was beginning to think I was the only one around here with an ugly dog!!!

Good luck with the ducks tomorrow!

Ha! Thanks...fear the beard for sure. Pond kept freezing over and Mallards kept passing the decoys frozen in the pond. Made it there and back safely though. Sad news on the the boys down in Matagorda.
