Trainers for a tracking dog

I have a buddy who just got a hound/ black mouth cur and wants to get it trained to track. He's having a tough time finding trainers in Texas though, any suggestions? Thanks!

I checked out his page, seems like he doesn't do tracking anymore. But maybe he just doesn't advertise for it? Any other suggestions?

Tracking is a simple process. I got a GSP pup last year to use as a tracking dog when needed. Well as fate would have it on the last day of the season I shot a doe. I miss judge the distance and the shot landed low and back a little. The doe ran about fifty yards and laid down. I waited about 20 minutes for it to expire and decided to move in closer to finish it off. Well as I got a couple hundred yards this thing jumps up and clears the cross fence and headed for the woods. My pup was back at camp so I left to go fetch her know the deer had a mortal wound.

When I had the dog on the check rope I lead her to the spot where the doe had laid. There the pup was able to smell the blood and get a taste. I then lead her for about 50 yards along the trail before releasing. She continued to work the trail finding where the deer had once again laid-up. She was running around kinda in circles in one area and sure enough there was more sign there. The hardest part was reading this young pup. She trailed about 75 yards next to the ranch road and crossed it as she headed another 50 yards to a deep ravine I watched her as she was going up the other side where she turned right about half way up. At this point I lost sight of her as she entered into some really thick brush and briers. I went to where I last saw her and found more blood along the trail she had taken. We tracked another 100 yards down the ravine along this trail until I could her the tone on her E collar. Sure enough she was standing over the deer when we got to her. My buddy had to crawl on hands and knees to retrieve the deer. All in all she tracked that doe maybe 600 yards? Anyway, they know what to do, your job is to give them a chance to show you. When I was a kid we trained our Treeing Walker pups on trailing house cats. That worked pretty well until they tried treeing that old barn Tom cat. He wup that pups a$$, He was just to old and mean to take any stuff off a pup. lol

I just dropped Rosie off at pointer school Saturday. I'm going to be missing that little girl while she's at camp!

Oh yeah. This gyp has been pointing butterflies since she was 5 months old. I go pick her up from school this week. The trainer says she is doing well. She was very obedient before she left for training, so she has been field training for the past 4 weeks.
