New Black Lab Pup

Hey guys, so i have just purchased a new black lab puppy and i go to get him in a little more than a month. (about a month and a week) this is my first pup that I am going to be training, obviously he is going to be a hunting dog so i was wondering if anyone had any pointers on how to train him and what not. Thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated. Oh and also i want him to be able to retrieve (ducks, dove, etc.) but i would also like if he could track some pigs or track blood. So again any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Just keep that little puppy away from children if you plan to hunt it. They'll spoil the snot out of it.

Hey Paul, I've had Jessie home for a week now OMG, just getting through the first week or two will try your patients, especially if your and old fart like me.

I am going to a puppy school here in Frisco when she's 12 weeks for hard core obedience.

If you are broke, YouTube is your friend for training tips. If you got deep pockets and don't want your dog for 6 months, find a great PRO to train, it will be done right.

It seems there are many things labs are being trained for these days
1. Hunting birds of course
2. Shed antler hunting
3. tracking, blood, game, etc.

All will have different techniques.

With their inherited scenting quality, they will be good at all.

It all starts with obedience. If they won't do what you want, when you want, chuk everything else.
