Lease, Changes.... what would you do

Lease, Changes.... what would you do - 11/02/17 07:21 PM

We have a group of 3 on a 400 acre lease in the hill country. Blinds have been in place for a long time. Property connected to ours (they have access via roads through our lease) has screwed up the back 1/2 of our property two years in a row. Last year they waited til the day of deer season and started major road work on the access road through the property.... we lived with it.

THIS YEAR THOUGH, they decided to tell our landowner to insist movement of one of our blinds (under the notion that they could be in the bullet flight path, which is not accurate). Our landowner is very timid in the sense to not protest neighbors and insists we move. Here 4 days before deer season starts... effectively rendering the back of our lease screwed up again.

What would you do?

Shoot everything that walks then find a new lease for next year.

If your LO is unwilling to stand up to unreasonable neighbors or at least take a look at the supposed problem with his own eyes and you don't want trouble with your LO, move the blind & hunt out of it the same day.
Deer will get used to the new blind location in a few days or less.

Blast away like a war zone, firecrackers over by their property. FU them.

How hard will it be to find a new lease that is suitable and affordable?

How close is this stand to your neighbors fence? Are you pointing towards his place?

We are not close... few hundred yards off the property line... No we are not pointing towards his place, in fact we are shooting into a cliff... couldn't be safer... but he can see it... wants it actually moved CLOSER to his place and have us shoot the other direction...

If your owner is soft...just tell him no rofl

Without owners backing, limits your options. Good luck

If that's the case, I'd tell him no, I'm not moving it.

The next thing I'd do is find a new lease. Small leases (3 guys on 400 acres), especially if neighbor has an easement, are constant problems of some sort, IMO. That's just not enough room for me.

Is it an option to deny these hunters the right to cross your lease? That may get their attention. If not, finding a new lease next year may be something to consider.

Move the blind and then just hunt where the blind was by sitting on the ground or the good ole fashion climbing iup a tree.

This is not the answer. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Y'alls land owner is the problem. I would find a new lease next yr. For this yr just ride it out. I like the firecracker ideal

Why? You're going to throw out being an ethical sportsman (shooting deer of certain age, only shooting a certain number of deer annually, etc etc etc) just because they want a blind moved? This is what gives hunters and leasee's bad names. Does the situation kind of suck for the leasee, yes a little but it doesn't sound like it's the end of the world. But who OWNS the land? It's the owners decisions. The owner of the property did nothing wrong, he is just trying to be a good neighbor. What's wrong with that?

So you want to kill every animal that walks on his property? Classy.

Let me tell you, it ain't worth the trouble or the headache. I would be the better man, finish this year out and get the Hell outta Dodge. No way I'm wasting my time off to do something I love only to have to deal with that type of headache and be miserable doing it. If it was free, it wouldn't be worth it to me.

My comment was MOSTLY in jest and meant as tongue in cheek. HOWEVER, if in a similar situation, I would be harvesting every legal deer to the limit I am legally allowed.

Good leases are hard to find, especially in the hill country. Move the blind. Hunt out of a popup, in a tree or in a makeshift ground blind. Unless there are other issues about the lease, I'd let it go.
