how would a feller..or gal..figure out per acre if they hunted on 5000 acres but their spot was 500 acres..which number of acres would you use..5000 or 500..lets just say for arguments sake..lease was 1000$ which is a hell of a deal!

Huh? Depends on the lease. Are you restricted to your "spot" of 500 acres or can you hunt the entire ranch(5,000 ac.)? Typically, lease agreements will spell out these types of things.

I am assuming you have 10 guns or 1 gun per 500 acres. The total should be divided evenly among the 10 guns IE $10 and acre for 5000 acres is $50,000 or $5000 per gun regardless of what 500 acres you're hunting. If you're paying less than the other guys there's a good chance you're hunting in the wrong spot.

Leasing really has evolved into do you feel good about the property, landowner/lease boss, rules and then can you live/stomach the costs. Many have regrets because they were worried about over paying and just end up being left out and still searching for that elusive lease.
