Ringman,
I hunt mostly S Tx and a little near Sweetwater. I'm curious why you choose this specific outline? Is this the crème of the Rolling Plains?
thanks,

Mostly due to access and experience in that area. All three of us live east of Dallas with easy access to I20.
The closer to I20, the quicker we can get across the state and start hunting.
I was raised in the Lubbock area, hunting from north of Plainview to Throckmorton.
We've always had pretty good luck in about a 100 mile strip each side of Abilene from just south of I20 north to Childress. Last 10 years or so, east of Abilene has been bad for birds. Maybe about 50 mile east of Abilene is as far as I would venture.
Problem we've had are the deer hunter pricing us out of the leases. We all hunt deer in east Texas, so not really looking to drive 6 hours for deer hunting. Do it every once in a while. It's hard for old quail hunters to find folks interested in bird hunting and a lot of the deer hunters don't like folks roaming around their leases. Plus deer hunters can lease 2,000 acres with 10 hunters on the lease. Tough to find that many quail hunters to go in on a lease.

If you would consider far west Texas we have good numbers of blues and gambles in the Van Horn area.
Large ranch varying from 18,000 to 30,000 acres.
