Yall are debating supply and demand - any seller of any product has the right to ask their price - any buyer has the right to say yes or no. Due diligence is the buyers responsibility - so if it fits your needs then lease it - if it does not then choose not to lease it. Pretty simple actually.
As a buyer I have seen way too many BS leases to put a load of hunters on a small property - so for me I would not touch either of those. But the seller has the right to ask whatever they want - isn't a free society a great place to get to live?
Exactly. I tell hunters how many deer can be killed to maintain optimum trophy potential. I don't care how many people they put on there as long as they kill the prescribed numbers. Last year I had 9 guys hunting that 18,000 acres. That's how they chose to lease it. I won't let my ranches be over hunted, but let the hunters decide how many folks to put on it. Therefore THEY decide how much each hunter pays.
I don't do Freezer Filler leases. I have nothing at all against those, I just choose to manage for trophies. There's plenty of leases run in all different ways to meet everyone's needs. And that's great. But blaming each other for different management goals and values is silly.
