Deer lease, Big Lake, Reagan County

My hunters moved to my Uvalde ranch to be closer to home.

My place in Big Lake is up for lease.

17,500 acres. Feeders and blinds in place. House and trailer hook ups.

$4.00/acre (doesn't include quail exclusivity).

I have a ranch foreman who might hire out for feeder filling and other chores if a corporation was intererested.

It is currently under MLD III but I'd prefer to let that drop if the hunters aren't really gung ho about it.

Some good deer in that area.

How many hunters are you wanting on the place?

I'm flexible on that as long as they don't just come shoot it out. If we stay MLD there will only be so many permits and the number of hunters isn't that important.

Also, the ranch can be split to accommodate smaller groups.

I have killed some big deer around Big Lake. My last place was Rusty Owens place in Barnhart good deer out that way.

Move it closer to houston so we can lease it lol. Great land owner to deal with here with a hell of a ranch. Someone should jump on it.

Some of the best hunting I've experienced was just outside Big Lake. Lots of deer and some good ones.

It's just 6 hours from Houston according to my phone. I think it might be lying...

Folks who haven't hunted that area out there are missing out though. It's incredible the wildlife out there. Something moving in your field of view at all times (of course your field of view is large).

The jackrabbit hunting is even a blast out there.

487 miles from my house to town, that would get old quick lol.

7hrs all day from Houston made that drive many times but if it's the right place lots of good deer.

Agreed. I used to drive it from Lake Jackson and it was all of 7.5 hours. I do believe my phone is FOS.

However, if you've hunted there you know it's awesome.

I can almost guarantee I'll be looking next year. Will probably just do a few package hunts this year. Large ranches are pretty hard to lease.

Thanks. That area does get in your blood. I've had guys build guns just for hunting jackrabbits. I have a high racked truck and walkin cooler too that I didn't mention.

But, I'm ok with letting the deer get a year older. I'll get a decent group early next year.
