Hello,
I would like to know what additional cost to this lease might be, being a U.S Resident and hunting in Mexico means taking a gun across the border. (1) How much would it cost to get the license to transport a rifle across the border for the use of hunting? (2) how much is a hunting license for an out of the country hunter for a buck tag? (3) Are there any laws to consider transporting wild game across international borders? (4) I understand that you say nice houses, but how many hunters share the same house?, and is the price of staying at the house included in the price of the lease? if so how many days are included or is the cost of the house an additional fee? (5) is the cost of corn included in that fee or is that an additional cost?

1)I have an outfitter take care of all my paperwork which includes licenses, gun registration, etc. It cost $250.00 to $500.00 depending on what all you get on your license and when you get it. You can get just deer or you can add javelina or same game. You can take your guns in early (October) if you get the same game license also. It is actually illegal to shoot small game without a license in Mexico. You can bring two rifles across and 100 rounds per rifle. Keep in mind the rules change from year to year so that is why I use an outfitter to handle all this paperwork.

2) Your lease price of $3500.00 gets you two deer tags. You are allowed to shoot one trophy. On this ranch a trophy is defined as having greater than 8 points and being 6.5+. You also get a management buck which on this ranch is defined as having 8 points or less and being 5.5+ We are strict on the age rule.

3) In order to get your horns, cape and meat across you will need your deer tag, hunting license and an exportation form. I have had no problems with the meat or horns with the proper paperwork. The cape is a different story. It can not have any ticks on it. If it has ticks you have two choices. Go back to Mexico and have it dipped and certified by a veterinarian or let them confiscate it.

4) The cost of the house is included in the $3500.00 price. The only added cost would be for the telephone if you use it. The house has two private bedrooms and a large bunk room with 4 bunk beds. There is two bathrooms with hot water, shower and a tub. This is a deer camp house and very typical of what you have on Mexico leases.

5) Our feeding program is extra. We corn and protein year round. The price is dependant on the number of hunters and the price of the feed. Last year my feed cost was $850.00 with 8 people. The only other cost would be that we tip the ranch hands for helping us while we are there. We all pitch in $50.00 for a week stay. The ranch hands clean the deer, cook, clean the house and help you if you need them.

I hope I answered all your questions. If you have more please don't hesitate to ask.
