still looking for a place around Leakey, camp wood, mountain home, ingram, rocksprings - 06/13/14 04:52 PM

Guys I am still on the lookout for any lease in the areas mentioned in my heading. It can be for myself or I can get a group of 4 that are ready. We are all great guys that all work in the fire department in El Paso. I have been just a little late on a few that have popped up on here but if you know of any or have some land that you have been thinking of leasing please let me know. I am not looking for just a trophy place all I want is a place to get out and hunt. I would like it to have axis, so I can hunt whenever. I will not shoot the place up and it will be just as you leave it to me or better. I do not take things for granted and I have been looking a long time for a place. I will make sure to take care of it if I find one.

Hello,

I manage an ongoing 13,500 acre, year around lease in Fort McKavett. We have several guys from the Austin Fire Department so you will be in the company of good guys.

My place is a turn-key operation meaning stands and feeders are provided and all you have to do is hunt. I have a guy that takes care of filling feeders and maintenance so no work weekends are required. You can truly just hunt whenever you want to.

Our lease is made up of several different ranches and consistently produces lots of 130-160 class deer. We have a really good population of axis and the dove and Turkey hunting is as good as I have ever seen anywhere. We also have hogs and predators. You get 2 Bucks, 3 doe, 4 turkeys and unlimited hogs/varmints. You can also purchase an extra buck allocation before the start of the season for $750.

I keep the density of hunters per acre very low so nobody is on top of one another. You can hunt any stand on the entire place on a first come, first serve basis. You may bring guests. Family and kids are not only welcomed but encouraged. We have 32 blinds/feeders and only 20 spot holders. At present, we have 16 members but if your group is 5 guys, I would allow the extra guy. If you bring a trailer, there is no electricity bill and we do have septic and 50 amp service to the trailer parking area.

The price is as follows:

Lease $3,750
Corn: Flat rate $600 per year

Dawg,

Sounds like you have a fantastic place. I will see what i can do about coming up with the The extra cash for your Lease. I was looking at a $2000 to $2500 a year. I will see what i can do to come up with the rest, but i will be honest it is stretching it a bit and i would like to build a freindship and long lasting lease deal. I would hate to get on a for a year and then leave you in the same place you are in needing someone else. Thank you much for your reply and i will most certainly get back to you if i can do it. Thanks again.

No problem...I know it sounds pricey up front but it really is a great value. Best of luck. I also do package hunts on other ranches so if a place doesn't come up in your price range then we have opportunities starting at $250 per day. Again, I wish you all the best.

Kind Regards

Mike,

Man thanks. I really appreciate the time you took to write me. I will defiantly keep you in mind if something doesn't come up. I have my hopes up but not slot of spots have come up. Man really thanks again.

I was curious, how does your place work with the axis deer and exotics? I really am interested and I'm going to try and see if I can do it.

Call me at 210-422-6002. Way too many variables to type. As far as axis go, you can kill up to 2 bucks. FYI, I just got 2 pastures that may work in your $2000-$2500 price point.

Thanks,

Mike

Guys still looking for a place and suggestions. I have talked with Boodawg and will meeting him in the near future but i am still open to any ares that may have axis but usually unlikely. I do not care about trophys, but of coarse it would be nice. I really would like a place to hunt throughout the year with a high chance of seeing axis. I have met and gotten a few great offers and have talked to some great people but most of the places that are opening are for whitetails with a slight possibility of axis being seen. I really do appreciate the time everyone has taken to talk to me but i would just hate to settle and be in the place i was last year. we had a place north of junction and didnt see a axis or whitetail buck on the place all year. I had a great time but truthfully was just not happy. Keep the suggestions coming and thank you very much for the time all of you have taken to write and pm me so far. I have a group if need be of up to 5 or myself or anywhere in between just let me know.
