Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease

Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 07/10/12 11:36 PM

Hey guys I have a lead on what looks like a pretty nice lease in SE Oklahoma. The lease is in Pushmataha County, which is a bear county as well during bear season. The lady I spoke with has 2200 acres next to this and they are subleasing this place out. She said they have hunted their place for 7 years and have killed several in the 150-160 class and her husband has seen one pushing 190. The lease is 3360 acres and I am looking for 6 to 8 more guys. There is no electric or water, but there are some nice areas to make a camp. The Little River runs almost right down the middle. It is timber company land, but there is only one clear cut area right now.

Shoot me a PM if interested. Would like to see about making this happen pretty quickly before they move on to another group.

Thanks,
TJ

Big deer out that way. Some of that land you have to watch for guys running deer with dogs across lots of land.

Looks like price per family membership is going to be $650 to $850 depending on exact number of spots.

That price is for year round lease for deer, bear, hog, turkey, fishing, and any other legal activity.

Here are some photos and aerials I put together shoeing the lease.
I also just got off the phone with the biologist for Honobia Creek and he said that this lease is excellent for bears and has some really big deer. He said that game wardens are great to work with if there are any poaching problems but once a place gets leased it usually helps cut down on poachers and deer runners.

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 07/11/12 09:37 PM

One more thing I just thought of, for $85 you can buy a permit to access the Honobia Creek WMA, which is another 80000 acres. Being on this lease you can get into the back side of the WMA where lots of people cant or don't get to go. The permit also gives you access to Three Rivers which is over 200,000 acres of public hunting.

Using the map and photos above, you can use this link to show all the public hunting and other areas around this lease.

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 07/20/12 02:30 AM

Okay, had a couple guys decide not to join lease. Have 2 spots open.

$800 each. Guests and family hunt off your state limit.

Saw lots of tracks and several deer just driving around in the 100 degree weather on Wednesday. Lots of wildlife and beautiful mountain scenery.

PM for details and I have more maps and pics available as well.

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 01/02/13 04:12 AM

i think the OK tag is $285 for non residents

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 01/02/13 04:27 AM

Thanks. That's not as high as I feared. Might make an Oklahoma lease feasible after all.

It's a good deal if you are a bowhunter. Otherwise you have to purchase separate tags for Rifle (about 17 days to hunt 1 buck 1 doe I think) or Muzzleloader about the same as rifle on days to hunt or Archery is 3 months of hunting up to 6 deer. All tags are the same price. This may not be exact on number of deer and days to hunt but its close. Kids have to pay the same price as adults.

Are y'all still looking for hunters on this lease? Permits are $280 each season

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 01/03/13 11:02 AM

I may have a couple openings for this next year but probably won't know until later in the month.

We shot took 8 does and one buck(130 inch 8 pt) with at least 5 other encounters with bucks over 130. Everyone that hunted more than a few days saw at least 1 big buck and numerous smaller ones.

Cost for lease this year went up a little bit and will be $850, half due in February, half due in August.

If your not a former Oklahoma resident with lifetime license, this lease is best for bowhunter who doesn't have kids or family that they want to hunt with as it is $280 for each season. Bow license lets you harvest all 6 of your deer and they are looking at limiting it where only one buck can be taken with either a muzzle loader or gun and other would have to be with bow.

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 01/04/13 01:08 AM

Biggest mistake I ever made? NOT buying a Oklahoma lifetime hunting & fishing license before I moved from Tulsa to Dallas......should have spent the $985.00 back in 1996 and I could have hunted in Oklahoma for the rest of my life for practically nothing.....

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 03/02/13 12:11 AM

Looks like I will have at least 3 spots open for this lease this year. PM me with any questions or interest.

3400 acres
14 members total
$850/member

Thanks,
TJ

No one even tried last year for bear but a couple guys went shed hunting a couple weeks ago and did find at least 3 sets of bear tracks.

Is there any fishing that is any good?

Re: Looking to assemble group for SE Oklahoma Lease - 06/18/13 01:52 AM

The Little River runs through the lease and provides excellent smallmouth/spotted bass, some catfish and panfish. Some of the guys really enjoy floating the river fishing for several miles.
