Do yall have any restrictions on what can be harvested other than state imposed? Just wondering. Seems like a low harvest total for 1600 acres and 16 hunters.

Re: east texas jasper county - 02/25/12 06:36 PM

we had a bad last year normally we kill around 10 deer .but we did kill 3 quality bucks.

Re: east texas jasper county - 02/27/12 04:42 AM

It was bad all over I believe. Our numbers were down on my club in Mississippi too. We usually harvest about 40 deer about a 50-50 split in bucks to does. We have almost 1000 acres and 10 members, We are not a "if its brown its down" type club, but this past year I think we only took about 25.

I'm moving back to Orange so I am looking for a lease in East Texas.

Re: east texas jasper county - 02/29/12 02:07 AM

Which direction from Jasper is your lease? I dont have a camper (yet) but my in-laws have a place at Mill Creek in Brookland I could stay at.

Also I been away from Texas for almost 20 years, so can you explain exactly what the MLD 1 part means?

Posted By: bullnettle

Re: east texas jasper county - 03/01/12 02:08 AM

were are about 15 miles from mill creek.mld 1 makes doe season go all deer season.u can kill 1 doe on this lease, and 1 13 inch or better buck, also a 1 cull buck.a cull buck is 1 unbrached antler.

Re: east texas jasper county - 03/01/12 02:59 AM

Thanks for the explanation! So with MLD 1 you dont get a longer season just allowed to get a doe anytime, correct?

Re: east texas jasper county - 03/01/12 09:17 PM

Exactly, which includes the Archery Only Season, Youth Seasons, General and Muzzleloader Only season.

Managed Lands Deer Permits: On Level 1 MLD properties, a MLD permit is required ONLY for antlerless deer. On properties for which Level 2 or Level 3 MLD permits have been issued, ALL deer harvested during ANY open season MUST be tagged with an appropriate completed MLD tag furnished by the landowner.

Re: east texas jasper county - 03/02/12 01:43 AM

Archery season you use your license tags.you could kill 2 does in bow season, and 1 with mld.but our lease 1 doe all seasons.

Re: east texas jasper county - 03/02/12 03:22 PM

Bullnettle - hate to tell you this, but you're incorrect on this one. You have the LAMPS program and MLD confused. LAMPS you do not use the permits for Archery or Muzzleloader Seasons, but MLD program they must be used during all the seasons.

Directly out of the Outdoor Annual and the TPWD website.

No permit is required to take antlerless deer during an archery-only open season, except on Managed Lands Deer Permit properties.

Upcoming Texas Hunting Seasons for Jasper County
(County seat: Jasper)

White-tailed Deer
Special Antler Restrictions

Archery Only: Oct. 1-Nov. 4, 2011. No permit required to hunt antlerless deer unless MLD permits have been issued for the property.

Found your thread while searching thru old threads..if this spot becomes available or if you would be willing to let me hunt a weekend or two for a fee let me know. I live in the houston area and want something within a 2-3 hour drive. Responsible hunter, familiar with game management, USMC vet. I was not able to get on a lease this year.
