Deer breeders with deer they can't sell - 09/06/15 04:24 AM

I have a ranch in frio county south of SAn Antonio looking for a deer breeder to release deer on my ranch and we both sell the hunts together and do some sort of split. I have a lodge and ranch and you have the deer. My ranch is 50 miles south of San Antonio. Look up my website then give me a call. Thanks Mark Marshall www.dospalmerasranch.com

This may be like asking a HF breeder to throw a bag of hundreds out the window of a truck while going down highway in wind storm, and then coming back a few days later to try to gather all the money and put it back into the bag. roflmao DONT take this wrong just makin conversation with a joke. HaHa ! Dude I know a HF breeder that I will not hang out with at all, and I an assure you that he would sell you a young buck with absolutely no genetics and may even only have three legs and some communical diseases for a grand. I can also promise you that money hungry dude will never let one go into the wild for free with hopes of turning it into a profit. Its safer imprisoned in his fences. grin When I see him at the gas station he's like come over and look at my bucks, and I so no thanks im good with my little free range bucks and don't want to corrupt my brain.

Captive deer cannot be released on LF properties anymore at this time.

Anyone who releases deer of a type 2 facility must test 50% of all deer harvested for cwd, brain stem and thyroid gland must be removed in 48 hours and sent to A&M for testing.

Ranches who decide to take the risk as minimal as it is could have every deer on the ranch out down just like the ranch where cwd was originally found. If you have any kind if money invested in bucks on the ranch prior you will loose that investment. You will also be put on a no transfer list for 5 years meaning no wt can be brought in and that will decrease your land resale.

It's a risky opposition bc they will find more cwd since they have over 12,000 samples at the lab now and it is inevitable

Cody

You only have to test 50% of the number of deer released. If you release 10 bucks you have to test only up to 5 deer. If you kill only 4 let's say, you have to test only 2 deer this year. 50% of hunter harvested deer. The real issue is nobody knows who or how they are going to enforce this. I have had TPWD biologist, Game Warden and my biologist at my ranch in the last two weeks and they all say they have been told it is not there job to enforce. You are correct in the fact that they will probably find CWD again. Not in just breeder deer but free range as well, since people will be using them to meet there hunter harvested numbers. If it were me and I released 10 bucks. I would have 5 pasture does killed opening weekend and send them in to meet my requirements. What will happen next year who knows. This emergency regulation will only be good this deer season.

My ranch is high fenced and I am aware of the testing on category 2 breeder deer requirements. Just thinking there should be some breeders that may not sell all of there deer and wanted to explore another option than just feeding them in pens and waiting for another year. If you have deer and maybe this sounds interesting to you look on my website than give me a call and we can work on the details. www.dospalmerasranch.com
