How high do you guys hang your winch type feeder setups? mine is on a pole thats about 16' tall but Im not sure how high to set it. Anybody have any advice? thanks

Ok, my question may have been unclear. What I meant to ask was how far off the ground to lift the feeder, or if it even matters. sorry for the confusion

The feeders I build are 14' to the top and most people slightly wedge them between the three legs. The is no rule though. you can hang it at the point that works for your application. Just keep in mind that wind could cause it to sway a little. On the other hand cows and hog will not bump any corn out of it that way.

The lower the barrel the lower the center of gravity, but I have never seen a cow tip over a hanging feeder, I would say have the timer at eye level.

I say the higher the better, the higher you can hang it the farther it will throw the corn.
