Moving a tower stand

Moving a tower stand - 07/02/18 05:59 PM

Cross posted to deer hunting: Anyone have any insight or suggestions as to how to move a 15 foot metal base Fiberglass tower stand? It has attached stairs that can be removed (I believe). It weights a ton - literally and I have to move it about 300 yards.

I used a tractor with dual hay spikes on the front to move mine

I just took mine off of a 10ft tower and mounted it on trailer for this very reason.

15ft, you either going to have to rent a telescoping cherry picker or lay it down. No way I would try to drag something that tall.

Cherry picker. Lay it down on a flatbed. Don’t risk twisting it up or getting hurt trying to lift it.
We moved a 10’ tower with a 4x6 on it by laying it down on an 18’ trailer, then chaining the legs to the back of the trailer and lifting it with a web strap over a ladder while backing off a winch on a 4-wheeler to keep it from tipping too far.

That's what we ended up doing and I am glad we did. That thing was way heavier than I expected.
Got it set up and secured without any damage - so that's a plus.

Is your blind a 5th wheel trailer? How big is that thing?

Even this is not going to be anywhere close to 9,000lbs. Of course in not the upgraded double wide version.

My way of thinking the easiest way to upload a photo here:
get photo on your desktop
look at icons just above where you type messages
the 5th one from the left. looks brown with blue arrow pointing up
click on it
click on browse
click on photo you want to update
click on add photo.
That's it......I think
