Insulating a blind..... - 12/11/17 02:00 AM

As I sent in the blind for hours, I study my blind and improvements to make in off season.

I no use deer view thanks to the forum. Great investment.

I caught some guys carpeting the house down the street, they gave me a lot of new carpet left over.

I now want insulation for sound and warmth.

What do y'all think about the 8 by 4 sheets of insulation and measure, cut with box cutter and glue to wall.

Y'all's thoughts..........

You can use the 1/2" or 3/4" styrofoam glued to walls with the carpet glued on top for side walls and roof. The floor would just use the carpet, unless sandwich the foam between a sheet of plywood with carpet on top.

I used R11 and put "subfloor" over it which is 5mm thick plywood.

I use the pink insulation board like you are talking about and just screwed it right on to the wall. I used a big washer on the screw so it wouldn't pass through the board. Only problem I have run into is that the wasps like to get behind the boards. So I use the non-expanding spray foam to see any cracks between the boards and the corners.

Below the windows, 1/2" foam carpet padding makes decent insulation and stops a lot of noise when bumping around inside.
I staple this in place, then put carpet over it.
Makes it nice and quiet and adds insulation.
Above the windows, 3/4" foam with 1/4" blacked out lauan plywood screwed on.

Easy to heat in winter.
Need lotsa open windows in summer!

I would say it depends on how your blinds is built. I ripped 2 x 4's on mine so I used 3/4" Styrofoam ended up flush with the framework, Secured by caulking it to the studs. Then you can carpet over it, it will help with sound as well as insulation.

Don't forget the ceiling. I use double thickness of foam board. Toasty!

Find someone that gets their food delivered. Blue Apron or some other like company. They deliver the food in a box with insulation on the inside of the box around the chilled part. It's shredded cotton (like blue jeans through a blender). I used some heavy duty spray epoxy from Lowe's to glue it to the interior. Best part, it's free..........

Mice like carpet though. I roll mine up at the end of the season and remove it.
