How would you heat this?

It's not a blind but didn't know where to post this....

27ft container that has 1/2" plywood over 1/2" pink board insulation on sides and roof. Was planning on getting electric dropped in until Farmers engineer did a site visit and quoted around 10K to run poles, transformers,ect, ect. SOOOOOOO.........back up plan is generator. Going to add a couple windows and some sort of floor covering.

Do you think a propane heater will do it? One of those 55 gallon wood burning stoves?

Going to use this as a "sleeping cabin." Propane heaters....like what kind? Safe to use with it all closed up?

Wood burning stove!

A small wood-burning stove would heat that and more. Propane heaters would as well, just make sure they have oxygen sensors with auto shut-down.

Buddy heaters. They have a co sensor, a tip over sensor. I use one in my house.

Yep buddy heater. Get the bigger one that has a fan on it and will blow the warm air around to help circulate it

I agree, BUT I think that you would need two of them for a trailer that large.

Find an old Dearborn heater. Restore it and use it without a second thought. Parts are available in Houston. East side heaters I think. Mike will take care of you.

If using gas or wood make sure you install a carbon monoxide detector.

I have a 12x24 cabin that I fully insulated. I use a Procom 25000btu 5 element radiant propane heater. It has a low oxygen sensor, tip over shutdown, and a thermocouple to shut off the propane if it gets low. At 25000btu, it was an overkill. Even when temps get into teens or twenties, I normally use only 1 burner, maybe 2 if the wife is there, to keep it warm(60 to 65 degrees)at nite. But, it's sure nice when you really need to heat up the cabin. ALWAYS use a carbon monoxide detector and keep two windows cracked very lightly open. I have been using this system for about 12 years now. One more thing, never put the propane cylinder in the cabin.

I'd put a wood stove or a propane heater that vents to the outside. The stove will draw in fresh air and vent to the outside so the air inside won't be nasty and humid.

My grandparents had that exact heater in their house. Only heater for probably a 1500 sq ft 1st floor. I grew up thinking the bars were sock hangers for when we came in from hunting with wet feet.

Like this one! Without electricity to run the fan do you still think it will heat up space ok? It will be on the wall facing the side of the trailer as we sleep in the rear of the trailer. Meaning it wont be "pointing" at us. if that makes sense.

If so I would get a small plug in heater, it would heat that no problem. We don't even use the propane furnace in our TT anymore.

If no electric I would do a wood stove.

All good suggestions. I found electric uses a lot of watts, thus gas.

If you are running propane or a wood stove you HAVE to crack a window to get some fresh air exchange or you will die. It does happen. Old Grandma's house was likely pretty drafty so she may not have cracked a window. Modern construction (and especially a shipping container), will be much more airtight.
