My version of critter proof feeder tested for 2 years

Simple to do and not too expensive.
Less than 200.00 total invested.
Yeah, it's a small barrel but I live on the ranch and check it almost daily.
I love when I am hunting ferals at night and watching a coon climb up the post, then touch the cage and drop off!
It is uniquely satisfying.
I keep cuff traps baited and loaded most of the time also - you can see them at the base of the two left legs in pic.

The plastic barrel makes a nice insulator.
The cage is made out of wire from homedepot and screwed to bottom of barrel with sheet metal screws.
The solar/battery electric fence charger came from tractor supply and ran about 100.00.
I ran the ground directly to all 3 legs and hot wire to cage - if you forget to turn it off before touching cage, believe me, it will remind you!

Also note the T-posts driven into the ground parallel to the feeder posts so the feral pigs or my cattle won't push the legs out and drop feeder on ground.

This feeder has been in place over two years so far and has held up really well.
I just add corn and change timer settings and don't worry about the critters anymore.
I also like the larger metal box that contains the motor/timer/battery as I can install a larger 7ah 6V battery that will run for weeks without sun.

It's simple, cheap and it works.
Here you go, hope it helps someone.

That is a patent pending Feral Crack Pipe - LOL!
Notice the bare ground around the stake it is attached to.
That is because the pigs push in around and around hoping to get a few kernels of corn that fall thru the 1/2" hole close to each end.

Here is a shot of another one that shows the crop circle better....

Hey Vern1-
Question- is the solar fence charger dedicated to zapping coons, or do you also have it hooked in where it keeps the battery charged?

No, the fence charger is a small 4V unit and the feeder is 6V.
But there is a separate 6V panel for the feeder.
I do have a 6V fence charger that would probably do double duty but it's on 1/2 mile of fence right now!

Once they pigs figure it out, they tend to stay around for much longer.
There are only two 1/2" holes in the pipe to let the corn out so a coffee can full will last a good while.
I also keep a mesh bag with a handfull of corn and a few rocks inside the pipe.
When they spin all the corn out, the small bag of corn retains the smell and between that and the rocks, the pigs still think there is corn in there and will roll it around for hours trying to get it out.

I have a game camera sequence of about 400 photos taken over a 3 hour period of a 180-200 pound boar rolling one around and around and around....LOL!
