Fire Ants In Protein Feeder

One of our protein feeders leaked water in a while back so we emptied it and then filled it up. Then fire ants got in it. How can we kill them? Will poison hurt the deer? What poison will work?

Sprinkle Amdro ant block granules or fire ant bait granules around the legs.
Ant block kills fire ants + more species of ants than the fire ant bait.
