feeder pens vs hay ring - 06/03/16 07:05 PM

would a hay ring around a feeder keep cows out ? understand the corn that falls within hay ring would not accessed by deer . Only hogs / quail

I appreciate your thoughts / comments

Yes, your mainly just wanting to keep them from getting to the legs. But between cows, hogs, coons and birds eating what's outside the ring what's left for the deer? Seems like a waste of money and effort to me

With a multi-panel pen you are only feeding the deer, birds, and coons. Pigs and cows are corn vacuums.

x2 if you are going to do it do it right. But if you don't have the money and just want to keep the cows from knocking the feeder over then and have a hay ring lying around then I say use it. Overall you will be a lot happier with a feed pen though. The pens with 10 panels will run you about 300 bucks a pen though just an fyi.
