Bought a new box blind need help picking tower height please

Adding another box blind to the property! So my son can start hunting with us soon I purchased a 5x8.
I have a few days to think about tower size. Feeder will be about 110 yards away what size tower would you use

15ft

I didn't know if there was an advantage of having a high tower over closer to the ground?

As short as you can get by with. Get a ladder out there and go three feet up it and look around. Go just high enough to see and get a down angle.

I'd do a ten foot if I was you. Gets you up in the air without being a pain to get in place like the 15 footer.

I had a 16' tower when I hunted S. Texas. Figured it would help see down into the brush. Total waste of money. I could see a mile down senderos but that's nearly useless. Went to a 5' tower on my place and like it just fine.

X's 2, also remember it could be a lightning rod... I like 10' just because it elevates scent some, but sure isn't a reliable reason.

My current blind on the other side of the property is about 10ft up using a 4x6 blind.
It came with the property.
I have often wondered if it does indeed elevate scent.

I think generally, the up/down drafts wil make the biggest difference, also whether the blind is in a bottom area, or set on a ridge type location. I'd still approach it as if on the ground.

Agreed on above. If the "lay of the land" allows you to get away with the 5' tower that is desirable, especially if you can place on a natural high spot or ridge. But, if placing on a level area the 10' might have some advantages for visibility and scent. I generally think an elevated view is better.

Put it on a trailer so you can move it when and if you chose. If you own the property put it on a 5ft stand.

I have a 14' tower, but my spot is downhill from the front feeder so at 120 yds it is pretty much level with the feeder in front. The back feeder is downhill from my blind at 160 yds but prevailing winds from south blow to the back feeder. Works pretty well for me. I don't ever notice being busted by scent.

I have both, and I think in addition to what's already been said, that it also depends on how close your animals tend to get to the stand. The 5 footer almost never gets animal traffic near by, so the low height works well and I don't have any issues seeing what I need to see. The other is about 20 feet at the window (old windmill tower), but also gets animal traffic regularly, even walking through the tower legs. In that spot, I'm really thankful for the extra height.

I was on a great Mills Co lease for four years. I put a box blind on the ground. It was on a slight rise in the land, on the edge of a tree line. The blind faced a major deer trail about 75 yards away. I did not put out a feeder. On non-windy days, I had many deer walk past the blind very close, without scenting me. I would be more concerned with getting a clear sight picture of where you expect to see game, rather than the height of the blind. Also if you fall climbing into a blind that is on the ground, then you are even less coordinated than I am.

Pictured is my 15' tower. I also have a 3' and a ground blind. I have had success from all of them but the 15' is a little harder to get into even though it has a porch.
