Blind rebuild ideas

I plan on reskinning a blind I built of an old square tubing RV porch frame a couple of years ago. It's currently skinned with plywood but was thinking about using sheet metal this time to keep the weight down to make it easier to move. Any thoughts on other possible material for the exterior walls that will hold up in the weather but keep the weight down?

I've skinned some with sheet metal - they do last forever, and the weight is a benefit. On the con side, they are noisy and COLD!

On my plywood-skinned blinds, I was careful to heavily paint the edges to help prevent water intrusion, and I trimmed the corners with metal. Both things helped on longevity, but the plywood is still starting to breakdown after a few years.

My next blind and re-skinning jobs, I will try siding. There won't be any benefit weight-wise, but the longevity of our siding blinds are proving much longer than plywood.

I have seen some guys use UV-resistant PVC sheets. That seems like the cat's meow, but I have no idea on where to find it or how much it costs.

I am interested to read other's input...

Spray bedliner on the entire thing if you go back to plywood.

I have blinds from Texas Hunter in S.A. they are made out of a plastic material called StarBoard. It is a marine product if I remember correctly. Has proven to be strong and light weight. Some of my blinds are 12 years old and have required no maintenance as far as weathering goes. If you can find it I would recommend it.

The stuff on my blinds is about 3/8 thick for what it is worth. There may be other manufactures.

I skinned one of mine with vinyl house siding. For weight reduction they are great and it will last forever but chilly in the winter. Thinking about gluing foam board to the inside for a little insulation.

Made a little scouting trip to the hardware store last night and actually had the same idea on the foam board to insulate and quiet the blind. Still thinking the corrugated metal panels may be the most cost effective and lightest material to use. Haven't looked into the siding idea yet. How cost effective was that?

4 x 4 x 5 blind cost a little over $100 to skin it. Never has to be replaced and it is very light.

Streater, that plastic will not last, I use in construction a lot for under concrete (it will rot away), use to cover dirt piles (sun breaks it down), it's a temporary thing.
If I was to skin a blind I would use the Hardi-board, exterior plywood, metal with insulation board behind it, DO NOT USE OSB.

Thanks Dalee. I was wanting to make it light enough to move myself, as this is my first year on this lease, and will probably be moving it after some time in the stand. Looks like I'm going with tin with insulation behind it. Thanks again!
