Deer Blind Experts

I have recently built a 4x8 blind out of EIFS (exterior insulated finish system) which is a foam based plaster system. Water tight, awesome blind. The drawback is that it is a heavy son of a gun.

I plan on putting on either a 6' or 10' base. My lease is in between Brady and Junction TX in London. Do you know anybody that has equipment to do this in that area? I figure it will be easier to pay someone with heavy equipment that to try and do it with a wench on a 4 wheeler.

I'd bet one of your neighbors has a tractor with a bucket or knows somebody that does. Good excuse to go get to know them too, of you havnt already.

Yes, a tractor with a bucket is the best way to raise it. But even some heavy ones can be raised using your 4 wheeler. If it is too heavy for that using your truck will do it. Go to this website and notice how they do it. Now the blinds they are using are very light, but the part to notice is the putting the rope over the ladder and the tying down of the legs of the stand so it will not get pulled over.

You could rent a Skytrack. No idea what that runs, but they'll go anywhere and sure are handy for lifting heavy stuff.

In the video above at the 8:50 mark is how we lifted my heavy blind. I built a tall support, like the ladder in the video, with some 4x4 lumber and a cradle for the tow strap to rest in. I hooked the strap up to my truck. It worked very well. What wasn't pictured was the second tow strap on the back side of the blind for when the blind does finally go up-right, to keep it from continuing to tip over after it's up right. Make sure the box blind is secured to the stand well, and support it good so there are no pinch points.

We put a couple of eye bolts in the side of the stand and load it in the trailer with that side up for transporting. Legs toward the back of the trailer. Then when we get to the stand location, we move the stand back until the feet are on the ground. Use a strap (or chain) from the eye bolts to a truck. Lift the stand a little and pull with the truck slowly. I have a winch on my truck so I used it to pull the stand. It goes up easily.

Like this? It doesn't get much easier. The neighbor (in Hext, not far from the OP) was setting up a new barn, we got to borrow it during lunch.
But we have wrapped a strap around many blinds and pulled them up with a one ton 4WD pickup, Bobcat or tractor.

Thank you all very much for the input. Lots of great options here. Will certainly look for a skytrack or tractor nearby when we set it up, but if not, the ladder leveraging the strap to pull the blind was is a great idea! Thank you guys for taking the time to provide some great advice.
