anyone ever use a "shed" for a blind?

I can go to home depot, etc. and buy a 6x8 shed for about 3-400 bucks and not spend 800-1000 for a blind. I could cut our windows if the model didn't come with them and mod at will. Anyone tried this and if so positives/negatives. Feel free to chime in.

I hope someone has done this and has mod'd one out (and has pics). If not, I might have to do one myself. Cool idea/thought.

Yes, recently this year I had a shed that came with the house when I bought it. If your putting it in the air you'll need a tractor with a loader, its super heavy. Kind of a pain installing windows, its studded on 24in centers and stripped with 1x4's. I just cut the hole with a router and scabbed inside the walls then mounted the windows.

I was even looking at this one. I was thinking ground blind or just on cinder blocks so no lifting

it would be noisey. other than that and not keeping in warmth why not. if I was you I'd just keep an eye out for a used blind. By the time you buy this plus tax, the windows, floor and possibly paint your already in the neighborhood of $500.

My opinion is to build one your self, use OSB, 2x2's, camper door, good deck restoration paint, deer view windows, and frame the base with 2x6's space two on each side 3.5'' apart to fit 4x4's for legs. This way you can take the walls and roof apart for transportation and will be alot easier to set up in the field. Should run you $500-$600 with a much better end product.

I would pass on the metal sheds, no way they will be quite enough. Also most are not high enough to be comfortable in. If you want a shed, get one that at least has wood framing, the metal siding can be insulated on the inside and the walls on the inside can be covered to eliminate the metal noise factor.

I have a 8x16 all wood shed that I can be inside and the deer will walk within 10 feet of it. It is almost ground level, about 14" up to the floor level. It is way to big, but I have 4 windows that I can hunt out of, and a place to sleep if I wanted to take a nap. If I had wanted it as a blind I would have gotten a 6x6 or 8x8. These are a lot more money, but a lot better built than the little metal sheds. I could build one for less, but when I add in the value of my time I would buy before building it.
