Wanted to see what y'all thought of my foam deer blind design. Happy Hunting.

What does it weigh? Is it fireproof? Is it high density foam? What will rats, mice, squirrels, coons, etc do to it if they start to chew threw it?

From the website off of the OP, I am guessing he is the owner of the website he might be trying to skirt the rules of the classified section.

Quote:

at b-vi we design and build the most unique and ideal blinds out there. from traditional blinds to the game box. we can custom build whatever blind you desire. OUr fully insulated BLIND design KEEPs ALL THE ELemENTS AT BAY in any climate you may be hunting.

> WE'VE TAKEN the same elements we used in the oil and gas industry, creating large oil storage tank bases and incorporated them into OUR high quality, lightweight and durable blindS.

> along with those elements we have taken SOME OF THE MOST ESSENTIAL HUNTING needs AND COMBIned them into the best blind in the market. whether its our traditional completely insulated blind with high quality hinge windows or the game box, you have 360 degrees of viewing capabilities allowing you to take the perfect shot.

> BEING BOTH AIR AND WATER TIGHT, OUR DESIGN allows you to hunt comfortably in any weather conditions. our blinds are structurally made out of our strong foam and sealed with our own poly overspray to make it as tough as the outdoors. this also allows you to avoid any pesky insect problems between hunts.

> All of our traditional deer blinds boast top of the line Deerview tinted windows. The highest quality deer blind windows out there. Also a fully locking door is incorporated in all our traditional deer blinds.

> oTHER QUALITIES THAT OUR DESIGN OFFERS IS THAT IT IS EXTREMELY LIGHTWEIGHT, VERY EASILY CARRIED BY TWO PEOPLE, AND IT even FLOATS! MEANING THAT YOU AND YOUR HUNTING BUDDY CAN CARRY our blinds TO THE EDGE OF YOUR FAVORITE FIELD OR to that ideal spot that you just cant get to with a trailer and set up shop.

Sorry, not the owner. I work for a guy and we've done foam in the oil and gas field for a while and when things started getting slow he asked us to think of anything else that we could possibly produce, so I came up with this idea.

The foam is eps and it is covered in a pure polyurea spray coating. Much like spray on truck bed liner.

I think this one man concept will weigh about 200 lbs. and Im not sure that rodents will mess with it. The polyurea coating is extremely flame retardant as that is one of its best features in the oil and gas field other than its resistance to chemical breakdown.

+1 for trying to make it through the sump. I have thought about doing a similar blind - but glassing it. That said - everybody has their own pet idea what is perfect. I prefer blinds larger than 4x4 - but mostly because they require a bit of juggling to move a long gun in, and I want to hunt with the kids.

Thanks y'all. It was kind of a long shot for me but it turned out really nice and tougher than I thought it would.

It looks like a good blind. I wonder about how critters will react to it?
Only time will tell. Good creativity!!

Might think about building a cold storage unit.

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 02/12/15 02:28 PM

Thanks! My first idea that we made actually is like a cold storage unit that we use to duck hunt out of. Kind of like a giant cooler / dry storage box. I took one of the first ones to put in my garage to hold all of my hunting stuff, decoys, etc. for the offseason.

Neat idea! How do you think these would compare to fiberglass blinds?

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 02/14/15 04:22 PM

In my mind the insulation of the foam and sound reduction are the biggest differences. Obviously Im partial to the idea but in all honesty I was blown away by the finished product. It far exceeded my expectations.

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 02/25/15 04:05 PM

Looks good, but like most of the blinds I see on here, the windows are MUCH smaller than I prefer. I want to see everything! Our blinds are typically 42"x42" or 42"x48" and are 1/2" light weight angle-iron frames with old barn tin for cover. You get almost a 270 degree view with only about 3/4" of obstruction at each front corner. We don't hunt feeders so the deer might be anywhere around you and seeing the most area possible is preferable. Height-wise the side windows are about 12" and have about a 10" winglet in the back corner so you can't be sky-lighted from the side. We don't use doors-the front window is about 15-18" tall and you just climb in. I'll post a pic sometime.

Hey man, whatever floats your boat. Everything I've hunted out of my whole life hasn't had anything close to the 3 1/2 foot windows that you are talking about. Typically just 2 foot X 1 foot windows. But thanks for the feedback! Happy Hunting!

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 05/16/15 08:10 PM

I put 12" x 12" offset windows in my last blind and liked being able to avoid being profiled. I could go 12x24 on the next one and be happy. I use Deerview flip ups attached to 2x4 or 2x2's. The 2x4's make the windows deeper into the blind and I think help reduce glare and make me harder to see.

Nice Idea, keep us posted on the stuff you are making.

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 06/02/15 07:30 PM

I like the idea. Did you use a mold for the framing? Will you guys be selling these? If so I may be interested in buying a couple from you.

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 10/22/15 10:11 PM

We did not use a mold for this one. We are currently in the patenting process to allow further expansion. We only have one 4x4 one man blind left at this time.

Re: Foam Deer Blind - 10/29/15 02:47 AM

How much are you charging for the 4x4 blind? What larger configurations do you plan on offering? I assume you will paint them?
